The White Oak Roughnecks blazed past the competition last Saturday at the District 16-3A finishing 2nd place and advancing to the Region-II Championships. Two individual Ladyneck runners also are advancing to region as well. JV placed 2nd to round out the races.
The varsity boys were led by Cooper Tucker, who finished 2nd with a time of 17:55. Niko Soto followed close behind in 5th at 18:26, with Logan Langewisch, Nathan Stringer and Henrick Rider rounding out the top five. Their efforts secured the team a second-place finish and qualification to the regional meet.
For the girls, Sophie Fisher and Maddie Hart both qualified for regionals as individuals. Fisher finished 3rd with a time of 13:20, while Hart ran 13:35 to place 5th.
The junior varsity boys also brought home silver, finishing second overall behind Sabine. Luke Bueno led the team with a time of 20:19, followed by Cole Jordan, Nathan Watson, Emry Morris and Kaleb Glenn.
The Roughneck runners will compete next at Region-II Championships on October 20th at Harold Patterson Sports Complex in Arlington.
