Junior Jacie Farmer, Head majorette
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part of being the leader is getting to help with all the planning and working with the other leaders to make the line a safe place.
Q: What’s your band/section pet peeve?
A: My biggest pet peeve for the line and band members is asking a lot of questions, especially ones that were just answered.
Senior Baylee Rejeck, Drum Captain

Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part of being a leader is seeing little girls just starting out in band watching me lead the drumline. I get many kids who say they want to be just like me.
Q: What inspired you to be in this position?
A: I come from a long line of drummers, starting with my uncles who led the White Oak drumline 10 years ago. I’ve always looked up to them, but I am the first in my family to carry the position for three years.
Senior Audrianna Johnson, Marching Technician
Q: What inspired you/why did you choose to be in this position?
A: I wanted to have a leadership position and learn to step up and speak up when I see band problems that need fixing in other members in order to improve the overall performance.
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you/your section during performances/practice?
A: Ramos was pushing the ‘you all better turn on your flanks so hard, I don’t care if you get whiplash’ lesson during band camp, and while practicing our turns, I slipped on wet concrete and nearly skidded a few inches.
Senior Stephanie Wilson, Assistant Drum Major and Section Leader
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part of being a leader is being able to teach and help others understand how to march or play. I like being able to think that I can make someone learn to love the art of band as much as I do.
Q: What inspired you/why did you choose to be in this position?
A: I was inspired to be in this position by my dad. My dad is a band director and I am going into music education like he did, so I think it is really special that I can relate to him in that way. That is also one of the reasons why I chose to be in this position: I wanted to start preparing myself for what I’ll be doing in the future.
Senior Samantha Crum, Co-section Leader and Co-loading Crew Captain
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you/your section during performances/practice?
A: When we rehearse for parades, we march on Roughneck Drive. Unfortunately, Brian Murphy’s bass drum obstructed his view which made him run into the stop sign. His whole line had to stop (which I was in), and the band fell apart.
Q: What’s your favorite “put that on a t-shirt” moment?
A: When Mr. Ramos says “great bands go to lengths that lesser bands find annoying” and everyone starts hyping him up because of the amount of times he has said it. Or the time he said “too many chiefs, not enough Indians.”
Junior Alea Vanbrocklin, Co-head Auxiliary Captain
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part about being a leader is knowing that the band directors and coaches trust me to take responsibility and be in charge of whatever I need to do. I also love knowing that I can help someone who needs it, and they can feel comfortable asking me.
Q: What’s your favorite “put that on a t-shirt” moment?
A: My favorite “put that on a t-shirt” moment was actually a more recent one. Ramos had told us that we are making his job harder, and that’s a good thing. He was complimenting us on how fast we were moving through the march and how he needed to continue making more for us. It showed how much the band had improved and how fast we can work.
Senior Morgan Gee, Section Leader
Q: Why did you choose to be in this position?
A: My favorite thing is getting to help my section. I wanted to be a leader because I wanted to be more involved my senior year.
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you during performances/practice?
A: When I didn’t turn last year in a to-the-rear and ran into Harlie and we both busted our lips.
Senior Mykey Feldhauser, Marching Technician, Tuning Captain, Loading Captain, and Co-section Leader
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you during performances/practice?
A:The funniest thing that I can remember happening to me is last year I forgot to count and I came in like 2 measures early and absolutely blared my horn so loud and everyone in the band just turned and looked at me.
Q: What’s your band/section pet peeve?
A: My biggest pet peeve is definitely when people just take Samantha or I’s tuners, or our slide oil or water or stuff and don’t give it back. Or when people blare because that’s pretty annoying too.
Junior Sophie Fisher, Co-section Leader
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part of being a leader is getting to be the person to help whenever anyone has a question. It’s really easy to get confused when you first get into band, so hopefully I can help them the way I had people help me.
Q: What inspired you/why did you choose to be in this position?
A: I really want to do as much as I can while I’m in high school. You only get to do these types of things for a certain amount of time before it’s all over so I want to be as involved as I can in making our band the best it can be.
Senior Brian Murphy, Marching Technician and Loading Crew Captain
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you/your section during performances/practice?
A: The funniest fail that has happened to me is when I was so tired that I could not speak in complete sentences and the front ensemble had to figure out what I was saying.
Q: What inspired you/why did you choose to be in this position?
A: I wanted to become a leader to help the other band members. I like being able to help people learn.
Senior Lexi Morris, Co-head Auxiliary Captain
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: Being able to connect with everyone while also being a part of maintaining the order of the line.
Q: What’s your favorite “put that on a t-shirt” moment?
A: More often than not when I countermarch my flag gets in my face so I’m basically marching blind. Once at Monday night band I audibly said “I can’t see” while marching past a line when we were supposed to be counting.
Senior Gavin Brantley, Marching Technician
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: I’ve always been a person who wants to help others. So last year, when I saw multiple people struggling, I knew that the following year, I needed to be in a position to help people become better.
Q: What’s your band/section pet peeve?
A: My favorite moment is when Ramos says the line, “Great bands go to lengths that lesser bands find annoying.” It’s very motivational and says that we have to go above and beyond in our work to become a great band.
Senior Shawn Richardson, Head Drum Major
Q: What inspired you to be in this position?
A: I was mostly inspired by my grandfather who was a band director, and Katie Hinch who was the drum major before me.
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you during practice?
A: I threw my mace during rehearsal last year, and now have a big dent in my mace.
Junior Kenadei Giles, Section Leader
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part about being a section leader is being a safe space for underclassmen to come to when needing to ask a question or even just a friend!
Q: What’s your band/section pet peeve?
A:My biggest section pet peeve is when someone just doesn’t try even though they have been given all the opportunities to.
Senior Bayla Weston, Section Leader
Q: What’s your band/section pet peeve?
A: The flutes not holding their horns parallel, and people talking between sets.
Q: What’s the funniest fail that’s happened to you during practice?
A: Last year at an away game, we were doing a Texas turn, and Laney Stewart turned on the wrong yard line, and it was just an absolute disaster.
Senior Nathan Watson, Section Leader
Q: What’s your band/section pet peeve?
A:My pet peeve is when people don’t do the fundamentals right and we have to practice fundamentals over again. Especially things as simple as parade rest or marking time. Simple things that we shouldn’t have to practice.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a leader?
A: My favorite part about being a leader is probably getting a bird’s eye view on the situation. I love getting to be in step with Mr. Ramos and seeing the behind the scenes of it all. I also love setting an example that is tangible and easy to follow for the underclassmen and even my fellow upperclassmen.
